Riding an elephant and being part of the herd will give you a new and much more intense game viewing experience. As you blend in with these large mammals you will be able to explore their habitat in a way that seems natural and unforced. Other animals won’t shy away as easily and you can get much closer views of Africa’s big game; yet you are protected by the community of the herd.

The elephant experience goes far beyond game viewing. Get to know these gracious mammals intimately as you witness the herd playing and bathing. Get involved in the daily procedures with the elephant handlers or mahouts and listen to interesting talks under marula trees.

Itinerary

The elephant experience at Abu Camp is a 3 day adventure. A light aircraft takes you to the private concession in the west of the Okavango Delta. The 3 days are spend mingling with the herd, taking long rides in the bush, gaining knowledge from the mahouts and enjoying delicious food and inspiring stories by the fire.

Abu Camp

Abu Camp is set in a 500,000 acre private concession on the western side of the Okavango Delta. You will be accommodated in permanent luxury safari tents, each designed individually and blending antique furniture with traditional African artefacts. All tents have a private elevated deck with sweeping views of the surrounding landscapes.
