Lemurs are possibly the most well-known endemic species of Madagascar. The primates live high up in the roof of the forests. The island is home to an incredible diversity of 71 lemur species – many of which are unfortunately endangered.

Almost all of Madagascar’s 145 frog species are endemic to the island. The little amphibians stun the beholder with their vibrant colours. The landscape of western Madagascar is dominated by “the roots of the sky”. The baobab trees are among the largest plants on earth and 7 of the world’s 8 species are endemic to Madagascar.
